TOZANDO KATANA SHOP

Katana - Mumei(No signature) - NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho/Hozon Certificate - Shirasaya Koshirae - Ubu Nakago - Koto Era - Miyagi 13460

¥550,000 ¥700,000

This beautiful Koto period Japanese sword is unique in that the Society for Preservation of Japanese Art Swords issued two certificates of authenticity.

The sword is in excellent condition and the polishing is excellent, making it a pleasure to appreciate. Unfortunately, there is a tiny chip in the blade about 25 cm from the cutting edge, but otherwise it is in excellent condition. Itame mixed with mokume shows active hataraki such as yubashiri and chikei. The thin suguha hamon, unique to the koto period, is nioi tight.

In 1970, the Society for Preservation of Japanese Art Swords appraised this work as a specially valuable sword from the late Tegai school and issued a certificate for it. In 2023, a new appraisal was conducted, and this time, it was given a different rating than the previous appraisal, stating that the sword is a work of the Mihara school and worthy of preservation for future generations.

In any case, there is no doubt that this is a wonderful katana with the characteristics of the Yamato-den. Please add this wonderful piece, which could become a family heirloom, to your collection.
